However, the factors in the algorithm on the website aren't the ones currently used (*) so maybe the who "algorithm" page on the website is out of date. So x.x4 should always go to x.x and x.圆 should always got to x.(x+1).

Or is it the pre-rounding converted time? The equivalent time algorithm seems pretty unambiguous: "Rounded to nearest tenth and truncated". Is the (for example) x.x7 above the unconverted time? Same with x.圆 and x.x7 they might get rounded up or they might get rounded down, I have had all occurrences at various times.Īlthough I have only ever found x.x2 and x.x3 are always rounded down, and x.x8 & x.x9 are always rounded up, its just the few in the middle range (x.x4 to x.x7) that could go either way. Sometimes x.55 maybe rounded to x.6 sometimes to x.5. Techstar wrote:As I said, the rounding does depend on a number of factors. You can end up in the situation where swimmer A qualifies on a converted time when swimmer B just misses out on an unconverted time, with swimmer B's converted time (in the other direction) being "faster" than swimmer A's unconverted time. Why the downwards rounding is applied isn't obvious, but that's what they do. So the qualifying time isn't 31.59 as the official conversion logic only results in a time to 0.1s but there is definitely the potential for good fortune depending on the exact number of hundredths of a seconds the "to convert" has. So if the very precise formula converts 30.85 to 31.59, the "official" converted time will be 31.50, whereas a 30.86 will convert to an official time of 31.60. The logic is that a time is converted using a very precise formula and then rounded down to the lowest 0.1s. I understand that this is the algorithm that Sports System uses (they may well have developed it for the ASA).

I implemented the ASA "official" converter DLL into our Excel record of performances. If SS or Hytek are ignoring 1/100ths, does that effectively mean that the qualifying time above is 31.59? A swimmer with a time of 30.85 SC shows as qualified on Entry Manager but conversion everywhere I look including Pullbuoy & EPT is 31.55? To put some numbers to this, the qualifying time for the Girls 50 Free is 31.50 LC. Quick query for the experts on forum is how does Sports Sysytems and TM treats 1/100ths? Is there an option to ignore the 1/100ths in a qualifying time? In addition i have developed an app which is for swimmers to use to track meet qualification times so have pretty solid understanding of how most of it works Q:ti.me wrote:I use Hytek TM/MM to run our club/galas whilst our region and many other meets I do entries for use Sports Systems for entries.
